Everyday is like a dream to me . . .

numbers mean everything

all about how you view the world

I dont know much of anything

but everything I know has made me great, powerful.

everything that was free I took

every book, song, advice, and friend

every tool, lesson, training, and challenge

now I’m rich in wisdom

and the poise and strategy to entertain

I may not know anything

But what I do know is…

Im a creole jazz child with no defined home. I’ve traveled our free land looking for substance, all the while doing it alone. I’m a teacher, a healer, a sister, and a friend. A prophetic soul.

I have unlocked the piece of my brain that makes me see the beauty of the world. we all breathe life.

Success has been rewarded and graciously received. I deserve nothing, life is great enough. Now I calculate my earnings and dance with the monopoly man. There is land to cover, prime real estate to claim.  Who else do you know with my will power?

The game of life, the dice, the pawns and crooks.

The questions of my identity, the strange looks.

The advice I gave before I new I was a master. The freebies handed out because I cared. The heart that no man can ignore because its genuine, present, aware.

The past lives I have lived; club girl, housewife, student, performer, provider, and raging fool.

The past loves that have twisted my words and emotions, forcing art in an abundance.

I would like to thank all of those who came out to support, who retweeted and tumbled the flyer and those who even sent me txts wishing success. Your desires were fulfilled as this was a heap of awesome, in so many ways.

For years now I have been asked “What do you do” and I give very vague answers. Quite honestly, I can be anything you want me to be. A chameleon, an artist of various forms, a strong working woman, and overall a nice person. I flex, I adapt.

Although, in recent months I have coined a new title : MOOD COORDINATOR

Spread thin and played over and over again. I created the ultimate atmosphere during Bushwick Open Studios. Inspired by my personal experiences in Las Vegas I titled this project The Sweet Spot.

Brief History: I grew up pretty sheltered in NoCal. Moved to Vegas at 19 and started going to the clubs around then too. There was no limit to the acts of debauchery that I experienced in the 5 years that I lived there. I watched classmates and young girls destroy themselves for all the wrong reasons. I was on the road to similar destruction but thankfully had the right people around me.

The Sweet Spot is about the destruction of self, bodies, emotions and most importantly the “peach”. As women we sometimes neglect our power, succumbing to expectations of others. There is pleasure in the purgatory. A place of serendipity pre climax. The highest point on the roller-coaster before it all falls down.

I found myself tipping over, never appreciating the sweet. Never dwelling in the innocence which was more fulfilling than the downfall. Never really knowing the raw context of the word “FUN”.  In my adult life at least.

Currently, I have found solace in a sweet place in “Williamswick”. I opened the doors June 4th and 5th to share it with others.

Feeling extremely adventurous, facing many fears and attempting things I would not have dreamed. Life is good.

My family came out to visit from Cali. Lord knows I needed it. Here is my baby sister Kayla, aka Killa. She is the genius in the family, I think I come close second.

Mommy put food in my fridge. The simple things in life.

Had the opportunity to work on this fashion preview for F21. Heavy work load but the final show was impeccable. If I do say so myself.

Went to support 60×60 at the Dance Festival in Tompkins Park. There was rain and sunshine, every music genre and dancer, and then this guy above who was the highlight of my weekend.

Yourselves delivered an incredible show a The Loving Cup a few weeks past. The energy was so powerful this evening. I managed to lose a bunch of valuables in the process of dancing like a wild banshee.

Caught the tail end of A-traks show at Terminal 5. Ran into a bunch of familiar faces and raving teenagers. That speck of light to the left is young Alain, he wore a suit for the show, how charming.

On that note.

A bicycle in NYC is vital for anyone moving here for inspiration. I have seen so much along the way. Lately, stopping to look at broken glass. Something about a wounded window or shattered mirror lying on the cement. The tones of grey and texture. The image that is reflected on the opposite end. Quite intriguing.

On this night we rode from BK to Central Park for a flashdance, then continued on to Harlem for Becca’s Birthday. The night ended with a beautiful coast down the west side waterfront. If you have yet to experience this ride I recommend it. Changed my life.

My new route takes me from Brooklyn to Queens and back daily. Yesterday I was feeling like a kid again, so I rode over the QB and back on the Williamsburg. So invigorating. For the added challenge I tried to talk on my cell phone, so gently sandwiched between my tatas, while completing the bridges. Some sick trigger that always makes me push my limits. Did it.

The city has warmed up. I am warming up to being out, about, and moving with the pace of my surroundings. Still finding balance in a hard transition. Kinetic energy runs this city, so the goal has been to stand in the path of motion.

My roomie Noel came home for a split second. She may not like this picture but I think its precious.

I spent a lot of time indoors, trying to finish work for Jupiter Pluvius and everything else that seems to plop into my lap. Being stubborn, focused and eager for summer drove me bonkers. Literally. Ceddy said I’m back though. Yay!
